Minecraft Oval Builds: Pools, Tracks and Long Halls
Use width and height to make the curve fit the build.
Ovals are useful when a circle is too narrow. They create a symmetrical curved footprint for swimming pools, running tracks, long halls, airship hulls and stadiums.

Oval versus circle
A circle uses the same width and height. An oval uses separate dimensions, so it can stretch in one direction while keeping the ends symmetrical. Start with the usable interior—such as a pool or track—then add a path, wall or seating ring around it.
Pool
Use a modest oval with a filled interior to plan water space and a surrounding path.
Track
Use a longer oval for a running track, horse arena or racing course.
Long hall
Use an oval footprint when a circular room needs a longer central axis.
Airship hull
Use a narrow oval as a base plan before adding height and tapered ends.
Mark both centre axes
An oval has a centre width axis and a centre height axis. Mark the four outer anchors first: north, east, south and west. If the width and height have different odd/even behaviour, use the centre guide shown by the tool rather than assuming one middle block.
Build the perimeter before the interior
Complete the outer curve at ground level, inspect it from above, then fill the pool, field or hall floor. This avoids discovering that the interior is too narrow after decorative blocks or water have already been placed.
Common oval mistakes
Stretching a circle by eye
Do not manually pull one side of a circle longer. Use separate width and height values so both ends remain symmetrical.
Ignoring the long-axis entrances
Choose which side is the main entrance before placing walls or stands. An oval can feel unbalanced when doors do not mirror across the longer axis.
Using the wrong tool for a 3D hull
An oval is a 2D footprint. For a full 3D sphere, dome or cone, use the dedicated layer planner.
