Best uses

This generator is useful for observatories, underwater bases, cathedral roofs and greenhouses. The planner gives a block-by-block shape plan and material total before you start placing blocks in your world.

How to build it

A dome is the upper half of a sphere. Build the base circle first, then follow each smaller layer upward.

Planning tip

Dome plans are easier than full spheres because the lower half is removed.

Before you start

Choose the final outside dimensions, check whether the centre is 1×1 or 2×2, and gather the stack total shown by the tool. For large builds, use the printable layer or quadrant plan instead of trying to follow a giant grid on one screen.

Make the base ring match the walls

A dome roof starts with the widest ring, so its diameter must match the outside wall footprint. Place the base ring first, inspect it from above, then move upward through smaller layers. Keep the centre scaffold until the roof is stable.

Use domes for roofs, not just decoration

Glass domes, observatories and arena roofs need enough headroom below the curve. Plan the wall height and entrance before choosing a dome diameter. Add panes, stairs and ribs only after the plain layer shell is symmetrical.

Leave room below the curve

A dome can look correct from outside while leaving too little headroom inside. Test the base ring against the planned wall height, entrance and platform before adding upper layers. This is especially important for greenhouses and observatories.

Finish the shell before the glass and trim

Use simple structural blocks to prove the layer plan first. Once the dome is symmetrical, add glass panes, support ribs, lights and decorative materials without losing the shape.
